Ryan’s Notes

Positives

  • Decent hip speed that could be even better with improved footwork
  • Can recover well from being in disadvantaged positions when the ball is released
  • Despite being 180 lbs he has adequate strength to play through contact
  • His general approach to tackling is impressive but itโ€™s his aggressive attitude to step into forceful contact points that catches my eye
  • His mirror reactions skills are decent in tight spaces but in Kansasโ€™ system he didnโ€™t get a chance to showcase it mor

Negatives

  • Has shown signs of being unaware and lacking football smarts.
  • Crosses his feet all the time to leave himself unable to make quick adjustments in phase
  • Has no idea how to play off-man, Bryant mixes up square drop backs with shuffle in a horrible hybrid that needs to be completely reworked.
  • Hesitant and late to attack his zone reads, at the next level these windows will be exposed even further.
  • His zone positioning is off too, his feel for spacing between routes needs work
  • Whilst I like his physicality in tackling he needs to learn to get his eyes up and wrap up too, his overall tackling form needs to be refined
  • Bryantโ€™s athleticism is below average and he can get exposed when needing to make adjustments at speed in wider spaces
  • Can get a big grabby even when itโ€™s not necessary and has discipline issues in other areas

Ryan’s Summary

Bryant is a skinny press man corner that packs a surprising punch for his size, he has a nice ability to play close through coverage where he uses his quick hips to stay in good leverage throughout the route. There are too many limitations to his movement skills out in space to survive as either a zone corner or in an off-man system. Considering his lack of top end speed I think he could look to add weight and move inside to nickel so he can make the most of his man match skills and prowess as a tackler.
