2025 NFL DRAFT
PROSPECT PREVIEW SERIES
Even with the NFL draft months away, it is never to early to start looking at some of the many prospects that will be future NFL players. There will be more comprehensive profiles completed, and Big Boards assembled as the draft draws closer, especially after the offseason All Star events and NFL Combine are completed, and more tape is studied. However, this preview series will give a brief view at this point to some of some of the popular players we will hear about as potential first or second round picks in April, and if they could be a fit for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Morrison has elite short area quickness and turn of foot to be able to excel in man coverage. His backpedal to turn technique is second to none in this class. What he lacks in size, he makes up for with high football IQ and good fundamental technique. His best asset that I have seen so far is his ability to turn and locate the football even in press man with his back to the QB. The awareness he shows in that area is impressive for a college athlete, and is imperative to play press man in the NFL. To often, we see DB panic when beaten in a route and instead of gathering themselves and resetting, they grab and hold flagrantly to draw flags. While Morrison can get grabby, as every CB does, he makes an effort to get his head turned for at least a “perceived” play on the ball eliminating questionable flag calls.
At this point in the process I predict Morrison to be a very late round one pick but most likely an early to mid round two selection. He probably projects best as a press man corner who has the skill to play in the slot or on the boundary, but he must improve his tackling for zone scheme defenses.
Depending on who returns at CB for the LAC, I could see Morrison as a decent fit in Minter’s scheme in the slot, but I would prefer more size in an every down boundary corner. Having Tarheeb Still most likely be the starting slot/nickel CB also is an issue for his fit. However, I do not think the draft range of the team and player will match up. Unless the LAC trade down in Rd1 or up in Rd2, I don’t see a scenario where he would be available to the team unless they pulled the trigger early and reached slightly in Rd1. I do think that whatever team drafts him can pencil him in as an immediate starting option, at least in nickel.
