Chargers signed Joe Alt today for $33.2MM, $20.9MM signing bonus. Let the punishing ground game begin! Let Justin have the time and pocket he needs to run this offense. Let the IOL step up and keep that pocket clean!

Might be nice to sign Connor Williams as our long-term center (I know you are all sick of my begging for this).

I believe that our entire draft class is signed!!!

There’s no amount of begging for Connor Williams that is too much, IMO. Whatever they have to do now, to make it so they can extend Williams next offseason and have it not count against the comp formula, I’m in for!

@kylededi

I think it’s smart generally to search for value by targeting a player like Connor Williams coming off injury.

However, if Harbaugh & Hortiz show no real interest in him, I will assume it’s because Williams excelled in Kellen Moore’s 2021 scheme, and McDaniel’s 2022-2023 scheme, when the playcall called for Zone Blocking. The more Outside Zone was run across those seasons, the closer Williams’ play got to Elite.

Conversely, Greg Roman has called the fewest Zone runs across the NFL since becoming an OC. As much as Williams could be value in the right scheme, it might simply be a case of the glove not fitting in the Chargers’ (likely) Gap-heavy system.

@alisterlloyd Williams ACL was torn very late in the season. I’m not sure when he had surgery. I believe he has suffered a torn ACL previously. He will most likely start the season on the PUP if he signs with anyone and that will limit how interested teams are. Probably why he is unsigned and Miami moved on.

I was kinda back and forth on the Alt pick on Thursday of the draft, mostly concerned about the switch to the right side. But I’m 100% in on it now. Glad it’s official now. Gus, JK, and maybe even Spiller will be glad about it. And hopefully Herbert will be able to set an hourglass before he throws.

@dtsmith-fiatbux Definitely went through this same wave of emotions.

I wanted the trade-back/Bowers move SO BADLY. In hindsight, I really like where we are at. I’d still like to see us make a move for a true TE1, but if Hurst can bounce back, who knows…
