Hey guys –

I’ve got everything I’ve wanted for the starting-place of our site rebuild… and I think the best thing to do is manually copy things back and forth from my staging site.

Homepage/articles/everything but the forum might be a little funky for a couple hours or the rest of the day if my daughter wakes up before I’m done…. but everything has been built out so hopefully it goes smoothly.

Once it’s build, I’ll leave for the forum up temporarily, while we test out the new site, and if everyone likes the new site more we’ll ditch the forum. If you prefer the forum for community chatter and the new site for everything else, we can keep the forum… but I will probably be trying to discourage the majority of chatter occurring in the Forum by not cross-posting articles to it.

@buck-melanoma , I tried everything to get a sarcasm button, but it’s going to take major, major programming to get one. I managed to successfully do it on the FanPost-equivalent plugin, but it gummed the toolbar up a bit, and I realized it was the comment toolbar we really wanted it for anyway, and that’s going to require a lot more work to try to make happen :\. I’m sorry man! I’m not giving up on it, I just want to get the current progress I have saved so I can toggle with the next set of improvements on the staging site with a fresh slate.

Hell yes, Kyle. I love to see you keep growing the site. Thanks for making all of this happen. I think we all understand the amount of work you and many others are putting in. And while I can’t speak for everyone, I’ll simply offer my gratitude and willingness to put up with a hiccup or two for the pleasure of enjoying my favorite Charger site. Keep up the great work!

@smith Thanks Fiat/Smith! Hopefully we’ll have much more content for everyone, and the streamlined formatting helps everyone write their own posts when they’d like, and improves our work when we post. Ryan and I are recording for the first time in forever again today, working out our own bugs 🤣 So we’ll keep churning stuff out and hopefully drive much more traffic to the site!

No worries dude. I can find ways to make it obvious….lol.

Any success solving the log out issue? Seems I’m consistently having to log back in, even after just a few minutes of inactivity.

Thx for all of your efforts, buddy!

@buck-melanoma No worries Buck! Great question – and the honest answer is I dont really know how to solve that problem because its never been an issue for me or my “guest1” account you may see posts come from occasionally as I try troubleshooting stuff.

I did toggle a series of settings the other day on the staging site – basically disabling the ability to login through WordPress accounts and strictly going off of what StormCloud as your username/password saved as. Essentially trying to simplify it as much as possible, no longer have the Forum have login/logout abilities  – hopefully in doing so, simplified login permissions will stop the issue.

I dont think I made those changes yet on the main site, so I will do so soon. If they still don’t improve things, I’ll start troubleshooting some different ideas – but I’ll definitely rely on feedback to track it since it hasn’t been an issue on my side yet.

@kylededi I came back this AM and didn’t have to log back in! So maybe you hit on the fix. I’ll keep track.

Thanks!!

@erick-v Thanks Erick! Forum is likely going to be defunct unless I can get the page to ignore the template… but hopefully it encourages everyone to move off the format and explore making the front page work. In the meantime I’ll keep tinkering away and to get as many formatting improvements and functionality down as possible!

Looking forward to your next post – let know how the Start a Storm works for you and if you have any issues with it!
