Hey guys thought I would create a specific free agency forum where we could update the latest signings and discuss or vent. Day one was a real dud, unless you are a fan of signing mediocre to bad players to fill starting roles, then congrats!! Hoping the coming days show some promise, but you have to wonder what the team building philosophy is when you go into Day 1 of free agency with only 3 starting OL and a ton of $ and then sign Penning and Strange as the potential starting Guards, while better players signed for reasonable deals elsewhere. Is Hortiz just to afraid to spend in FA so he is never cap strapped? Is he to obsessed with comp picks? Does that C+ rating for Harbaugh really resonate with outside players? I can’t figure it out. He didn’t sign any big names last year, didn’t get comp picks, traded away draft picks and players to cover up the roster holes, and then won’t spend the $ he was obsessed with hoarding. I would be very concerned with resigning Tuli. He wasn’t drafted by this regime and Hortiz just let Oweh walk out the door after drafting him AND trading for him. Do you think Tuli’s market will be softer? He’s been more productive here than Oweh was in Baltimore.

Unless there is another signing in free agency that pushes Penning or Strange to a swing role, my faith in Hortiz will start to decline. He can’t be in year 3 at the wheel and this is the OL he cooks up after watching Herbert get destroyed the first 2 years under his watch. Let’s hope there are some better things to come.
