The Chargers are back at SoFi for their third preseason matchup, and this one carries some added intrigue. For the first time in his NFL career, Justin Herbert will take preseason snaps. Even if itโs a small sample size, fans will be eager to see how sharp he looks in live action before Week 1, with a somewhat makeshift offensive line in front of him as Mekhi Becton continues to “work through something” and the team tries to establish it’s contingency plan after losing Rashawn Slater.
Behind him, Rocket Sanders continues to be one of campโs biggest storylines. After an impressive preseason debut, heโll look to stack another strong performance and make his case as a true weapon in Greg Romanโs ground game.
And in the trenches, all eyes are on Jamaree Salyer. Whether at guard or tackle, tonight offers another chance to prove he belongs in the Chargersโ best five up front. His versatility could make him a key piece of the offensive line rotation.
Defensively, who in the secondary is going to carry the turnover torch? The cornerbacks have been ballhawks thus far, with contributions coming from Nikko Reed, Eric Gregory and others. Who’s turn is it today?
It may not count in the standings, but with Herbert on the field, Sanders building steam, and Salyer battling for a spot, this preseason clash has plenty worth watching.
๐ฌ Your turn, StormCloud: Who are you tuning in to see tonight?

Game was won by Rams defense and ability to run while we couldn’t. Yeah, Stetson Bennett had some great passes also.
I really hope that The Chargers don’t completely mismanage the end-of-game like that in the regular season. I guess they just didn’t care about winning a preseason game.
Well that was weird. We left the Rams with two time outs for no reason.
Someone exxplain to me why JaSir Taylor is still on this team….
About nine more days and he wonโt be.
Luke Grimm! PR TD!
Long-ass first half. Thankfully Iโve been making dinner, part to be cool to my gal, part bc Iโm going crazy now that Iโm trying to quit smoking.
Rams had three uncalled hits to the helmet, which sucks, and now we wonder if QJ will clear protocol by week 1. KLS looks great. Heinicke looks ok, Lance looks better. The D is giving up too many rushing yards up the middle.
Iโm not sure what else Iโm learning from this game, but again, Iโm half in and audio only.
KLS looks like a DUDE
Second strings or not, nice to get a 4th down stop inside the 5.
Oh, great. KLS gets a shot to the head now. No call for him or QJ.
Sorry brother, chasing around the kiddo. Barely able to watch. Hate seeing the Rams head hunting though!
Gosh dang. Now Alohiโs on the ground. He seems to be moving fine but went from one knee to on his butt as the trainers came over.
Such a bummer to have so many guys getting hurt.
Alohi is walking off the field after an injury timeout. Brutal.
FG drive for the starters. QJ got knocked out. Herbert took a slide vs a sack. Didnโt see much of Hampton. I think thatโs good. I hope Jim sits them now.
Yeah Im good Herbo can sling it. We dont need to see more
Damn. QJ hurt. Apparently knocked out on the third play. Iโm on radio so I didnโt see it, but Money and DJ were speaking in really quiet tones. I hope dudeโs ok.
yeah Im watching on CBS with little eagle and fouts and they are just running commercials
That took a while, but QJ on his feet and carted into the locker room. That sounded bad.
It looked rough, but QJ was moving extremities right away and tried to take off his helmet. I think he just had a very, very bad concussion.
Iโm interested to see if any of the bubble guys on defense (Wax, Murphy, Jones, Reed) can play IOL. If so, I like this season.
Let’s see some Justin Herbert football!
