Jim Harbaugh will tell you each game is as important as the next, but although he won’t publicly admit it, you can bet there’s added emotional weight to this Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
The last time John and Jim faced off against each other on the gridiron was 2012, when Jim’s San Francisco 49ers lost to John’s Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. Despite the consistent excellence of the Ravens organization, John hasn’t been to the Super Bowl since. His playoff record following their Super Bowl victory is 3-6.
Jim would only stay in the NFL for two more seasons following his loss to his brother, and continued a storied coaching career with the Michigan Wolverines. After nine successful seasons that culminated in a National Championship, Jim returned to the NFL as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, and now has a chance to grab some bragging rights just three days before the men will be sharing Thanksgiving dinner as a family.
Who’s got it better than Jim?
Below is the summary of the injury reports throughout the week.
Hayden Hurst and Denzel Perryman have been confirmed as “OUT,” with Bud Dupree, AJ Finley, Cam Hart, Deane Leonard, Khalil Mack, and Ladd McConkey listed as questionable.
The two most positive developments from this list are the fact that Khalil Mack didn’t take his usual vet rest day, signaling he ‘s likely trending in the right direction to play this week, and Cam Hart having a full practice participation on Saturday.
Although Khalil Mack is one of the most irreplaceable pieces on this roster, given the current state of the injuries across the roster Cam Hart’s availability might be the biggest piece of good news for this squad. Much like previous years where the wide receiver room could only withstand so many injuries before the offense became stagnant, the defense seemed to hit its workable threshold of secondary injuries when Cam Hart went down with his concussion last week.
What do you think, StormCloud? What are some of the matchups you are most looking forward to tomorrow?

Alright defense. Good stop, good discipline.
Nice stop.
Lets see it defense! I need some Henley magic right about now
Stuffed!!!!
Holy fuck. That was awesome.
If I were the Ravens, I would just hand the ball to Henry until the Chargers prove they can stop it.
Need a 3 and outย
Good punt. Now derail that Henry train.
Missing Perryman tonight.
Definitely on that drive. They need to hit Henry before he build momentum
Time to answer back.
They nearly clipped KC
Game on
Ugh
Henry ramping up
That was close.
Gilman got lucky. Big 3rd Down
Good PBU Gilman.
Whewwwww that was close
Dammit….can’t let Henry get going.
He’s frightening.
Pretty crazy to think they could have afforded signing him instead of Gus. I know I wasn’t a fan of it at the time though.
Damn. Derwin did his job. Niemann got sucked up.ย
Damn….Apple dinged.
Not good. Way too many injuries on the boundary
OK, ate some clock.
Gotta say how refreshing a solid K is.ย
Indeed. Been a minute.
Why are bombs to QJ even in the game plan?
Yeah, not his game.
Just keep churning out first downs.ย
YES!!!!
Go for it??
A stud center and TE…..oooohhhh baby.
Buck – if Bozeman does decent the rest of the year, how would you feel about Guard+TE?
I definitely prefer both, but if they prioritized guard and drafted a later Center to develop, I wouldn’t be upset … if Bozeman keeps playing at a high level.
Really seems like a lot of the interior issues may be leaking from Pip.
I could see going that route. This isn’t a good center class.
I know this is sounding like a broken record guys, but this is by far the most enjoyable brand of Chargers football I’ve seen since 2006. I’m having so much damn fun watching this team.
Herbert just looks like a whole new QB
I’m almost afraid to voice it.
We’ve been hurt before ๐คฃ
I agree. If they can keep the defense fresh, Baltimore has a tough row to hoe.
OK, good first Q. Second possession a little shaky.
Even through the shakiness, there were still some pretty awesome positives. Answering back from the sack, and then the holding penalty, was great. Reagor just really, really let them team down with that powder puff drop.
Yeah…..
Running game looks strong tonight
Yeah baby!!!
Nice DD. Now settle down and move the ball, offense.
Great job D. Good starting field position. Letโs put a scoring drive together!!
Time to matriculate down the field.
Is the matriculate like the macarena?
A little less rhythm….lol
Alright D!!!
Man we woulda been HEATED if they called that PI. Great call.
Yeah, we’ve lost those in the past.
That was a shaky looking series.
Reagor seems a little unreliable in the crunch. Just sayin’
McConkey!!!
Really. Keenan who?
Yeah, feels a little disrespectful but….yeah.
Ugh….not like that.
Let’s pour it on offense!!!
Yep
Alright D….little help, I’ll take it.
Canโt look any sharper on the first drive.ย
Dammit….missed the opening drive!! Network issues….grrrrr
Drink 1 – Four Walls Irish Whiskey Sour
Does Perryman + Hart equal Roquan Smith?
Predicting Chargers 30, Ravens 27.
I like it! I’m leaning 24-20 Chargers
31-17 Chargers, only because they kneel at the end to avoid running it up to 38.
Hey, think big.
Hart was seen in a boot on the practice field… not good. I absolutely hate losing that guy.
Supposedly Mack is set to play… hopefully he’s feeling much better than when we only lasted a couple snaps.
I understand that many of you have your guard up, but I’m not as wise as you all. Zeina is giving me the night to watch the game (save a quick story or two for Izzy before bed), and Papa Kyle is going to make a cocktail (or two) and fully believes a “Dub” is coming our way.
I’m honestly looking for this team to force us to reevaluate our expectations for this ball club. I’m extremely proud of how this season has gone, and the AFC is wide open… LET’S SEE IT BOYS!
This could potentially go big either way. Ravens won’t stop chargers pass attack, but Chargers won’t stop Ravens run game
If those wind up offsetting and it’s close, I think the Chargers take it.
I feel the same. I do not expect a win but remain hopeful. I will not be disappointed if they lose so long as they play well for a good chunk of the game even if they blow a big early lead. Last week I could not enjoy the win because they were dominating the Bengals and then the wheels came off until the very end. Tonight if they win I will be ecstatic no matter how they get there.
Nice article.

I must say, I don’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about this game. If we come out with a win (which is ENTIRELY possible, I’m just not feeling overly confident) this will be a statement.
@buck-melanomaย
I feel as if the Chargers are playing with house money right now because of last weekโs win. I thought theyโd win one of these two and am pleased that they took care of business against Cincinnati. That said, this is a winnable game. If Jim gets the better of big brother tonight, no one will be more thrilled than me.ย
I have a party to go to tonight, so I wonโt be able to watch. But Iโll be getting updates throughout.ย
ย
Go Chah-juhs!!!
@buck-melanomaย
I hear you. I wouldnโt be able to manage an 8:00 kickoff. Iโd have to nap all afternoon, even when healthy. Glad youโre on the mend, my friend. Hopefully youโve fulfilled your quota of illness for the next year or two.ย
Letโs beat them dirty birds!
Glad you’re on the mend buddy. Selfishly I know we all want you watching the game with us and chatting along, but if you’re body says it needs some rest we all certainly understand that.
I hope you make it, Buck. it’s better when you’re here.
Off topic and I did not see the game, but Carolina apparently took KC to the ropes. Our next meeting may be quite different.
Hart, Bosa, James, and Leonard all practicing in full is great news. Getting Leonard back may be a bit under the radar but could be a big deal with Fulton playing less than 100%, Hart returning from injury, and ASJ remaining out.
Even with Bosa, Mack’s absence was impactful last week. I don’t think that would have turned into as close a game in the second half if he was healthy. This could be even more impactful this week, facing a QB like Jackson and RB like Henry, especially if Dupree doesn’t play.
Ladd is also a concern, if the Chargers need to win another higher scoring affair.
