This is a scary team that could shock the world in the playoffs. Given the opportunities ahead, the front office needs to strongly consider signing Ngakoue to maximize the defense’s potential.

I like it.

The light is green for the trip to Houston. And all the team has to do is punch Vegas in the mouth. Win-win.

Really bummed I missed QJ’s big day. Sure hope Slater is ok. I’d prefer to never see Pipkins on the field in a Chargers uni again.

@buck-melanoma Since he tweaked something pre-game and didn’t play, my fingers are crossed that this is something minor.  I read that he’s having an MRI today.

Agree with the point on Pipkins.  I did think Alt looked great at LT.  His size and length just neutralize rushers.

Houston puts pressure on the QB.  Missing Slater will be an issue.

@kevdiego yeah, I heard the MRI news too. We could easily manage with Alt at LT….it’s the trickle down effect that worries me.  🫤

@buck-melanoma Alt will be a rock on either side.  Not sure if the better answer is Pipkins at RT and Salyer at RG or Salyer at RT and Mustipher at RG.  I think Trey may also be hurt.  I haven’t re-watched the game, but I THINK I saw Salyer at RG and Sarell at RT when Pipkins was out.

Hopefully, the injury to Slater is minor & he’ll play Saturday.  Fingers crossed.

So, yes, the trickle-down is going to be something the team is going to need to manage.  Against an aggressive, blitz-happy defense, how this unit performs will significantly impact the game.

@kevdiego This Slater situation is easily the biggest issue right now. If Pipkins is healthy enough to play I think I would prefer him sliding out to RT and putting Salyer at RG. At the very least Pipkins has more experience there. With Alt being able to play on an island at LT we can use some TE and RB chips to help Pipkins not get exposed to often in isolation.

Both Popper and Rhim reported Slater would have played if he needed to. Just precautionary.

@buck-melanoma don’t know results of MRI, but Popper just reported Harbaugh expects Slater to practice today. Gus Edwards too.

@unclejammsarmy great news on both counts!!

Now let’s have Salyer start in place of Pipkins.

@buck-melanoma Just depth. Like break glass in case of emergency depth.

@evolz3737 we’ll see. Gus is still gimpy and JK apparently tweaked the knee a bit. Yes, depth, but depth that could see significant snaps.

I’m glad to see Hortiz being proactive, unlike our former GM.

@buck-melanoma Comparing Hortiz to Telesco is like apples to meatballs.

@buck-melanoma I think this is a smart move – something Telesco never would have done.

Not sure how much tread is left on Zeke’s tires, but he’s been in big games, isn’t going to fumble (looking at you Haskins) and is going to move piles forward.  Good replacement for Gus.

I had high expectations for Hortiz coming into the season – he’s exceeded those expectations.  I had opinions about the major moves made this year.  In years past, my opinions (like opposing trading up to draft an LB late in the first round) were usually better than Telesco’s.  This year, I wanted a WR at 5.  Alt was clearly the better choice.  It’s such a strange feeling to have a smart, pro-active GM evaluating and making moves big and small that improve the team.  The plans for adversity (like picking up Zeke) are wonderous to behold.  I’m still pinching myself, trying to understand how the football gods finally smiled on Charger fans…
