I didn’t see a good place for this and wanted to call attention to the (hopefully!!) avoided injury to my perennial lunch pail guy, Khalil Mack. I guess we’ll know more as the week progresses and formal injury reports appear but for now, a sigh of relief.

I wasn’t sure where to put this either, but totally surprised that the Chargers made no in-season trade.

@spanos-must-go I’m not. We’re not one move away from a run at the SB. Why give up draft capital? There was no affordable clear upgrade. I’d feel different if there was a clear upgrade at IOL, particularly center, but there wasn’t.

No, I’m good sitting pat after seeing the compensation received in these trades. This year was always going to be a stepping stone. And anything can still happen.

How is Mack so freaking cool, man? It’s becoming clearer and clearer that the team needs to extend him and move on from Bosa.

FWIW, I wrote a test-article for PFF with the friend I did the A to Z Sports articles with last year to apply to be their new contract analysts (fingers crossed), and Khalil Mack’s contract was included.

There’s almost no comp for a free agent playing at his level at 34 with his (lack of) injury history. We basically floated Von Miler’s contract numbers, but kept it to a three-year deal 3 year, 60 M. I had to bring him up from 1year-15M.

@kylededi Good luck, Kyle. It would be very cool to have you as a PFF insider.

@tau8377 Thanks Tau! I’m definitely in a support role to my friend – if there’s only one spot available, it’s going to be him and I’ll just be helping him in the background. At his lead, we’ve been developing some cool stuff that I’m looking forward to being able to share. For example – we (95% he) developed an algorithm that projects player contracts by a three-year average, platform year estimate, and a weighted average that combines the two to give a three-year projection by with extra emphasis on his platform year. It’s what I wrote the early projection for Palmer off of, basing it off his past efficiency numbers and an expected added amount of targets going his way. However, with his current production as the trendline, it’s pretty dang abysmal.

@kylededi Mack is the ageless wonder and a Buck Melanoma Lifetime member of the Lunch Pail team….lol. Love the guy.

Good for you on getting involved with PFF. You’ve seen its strengths and heard our criticisms. New ideas can help to strengthen the product. Good luck and have fun!!
