The Los Angeles Chargers are back in the playoffs in their first year under Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz’s leadership!
Ryan Watkins has done an amazing job breaking down the scouting reports on both sides of the ball this week. In case you missed it, here is his in-depth look at how the Bolts’ offense will fare against the Texan’s defense, and how Jesse Minter’s defense can gain an edge against Houston’s offense.
In the final injury report, we learned that Joshua Palmer will be OUT for the Bolts (and later saw Ja’Sir Taylor moved to the IR), and Shaq Mason OUT for the Texans. A handful of other players on each side had some “Questionable” tags, but no “Doubtfuls.”
This has been one heck of a season with all of you, and I’m excited to be tuned in to catch this playoff game with you all. Let’s get excited and enjoy some Chargers playoff football!

I like the call, but Herbert can’t throw the ball to QJ when Lassiter is covering.
Ugly. Throw it across the field into double coverage?
Yeah that was a very bad decision
Not to mention a lousy throw.
To QJ who was double-covered, with Lassiter (possibly the best CB in the NFL) underneath.
Damn it. Keep that momentum on the Chargers side
Should be up 14-0
Roman keeps running the ball all the damn time so Justin feels like he HAS to take risks in the passing game now. Great.
Gut punch.
Yeah this time Houston is gonna make us pay it feels like
Or not. Come on offense, help the defense out here!
alright alright ALRIGHT
Forty yards for six. Letโs go. I love ya, Dicker, but take a drive off.
Deane Leonard! Playing center field!
Man Houston is going to lose this game for us playing like that!
Three and out, Jesse. Letโs go!
Damn Will Anderson is a problem
Lassiter, too.
Pitch and catch to Ladd. They look like Bob Welch and Steve Yeager. (Who has been following LA sports since the 70s?)
Gotta love play action
Pick up some yards, get some first downs.
Thereโs one for Ladd.
Joey Bosa – Wild Card redemption tour
Would love to watch that!
They are going for it. Take that momentum back!
Oh it would be so great for this game to be a Bosa goes wild game
Perryman is questionable to return.
Yeah that is huge
That blocked punt is gonna give the Texans the momentum right?
D has to step up here. Houston is FIRED up.
Agreed 100%. Score is NOT indicative of the current momentum. Really need to have a successful drive here
Anxious to see them not taking full advantage of he opportunities they have been presented with
Isn’t that PI if only the arm is hit?
Herbert couldโve run right there and picked up five at least.
Yeah that sure looked possible right there.
So much for Greg Roman thinking that passing on early-downs for Justin was the way to go. This is like early-season stuff
Can we please start catching passes please
Did anybody bring the stickum?
Nice acting job by DD, You’d think the guy slugged him. i like it.
A TD would be very welcome here
Absolutely.
DD has learned how to step into pitches.
Crap. That pass to Henley was almost as easy at that pass to Dissly.
yeah, we seem to have a slight case of nerves on the catches.
TOP, good. D is 1 for 1 in plays. O looks ok, but needs to finish. Good start. Long game.
Oh, Dissly…
What a joke sequence between the sack and then the drop the next play
How did that first beer disappear so quickly?
Omg!
Jesse Minter, we are watching.
Really needed that 3rd-1/2 there. Surprised not to see Gus. But 3 is 3.
Dissly โrunsโ like that guy who only needs one thing at Costco on Christmas Eve and has to dodge carts and shoppers left and right.
He looses like a dad.
Looks, not looses
He might let loose like a dad. Dance too hard at weddings, etc. We donโt know.
What a terrible pre-snap execution because Justin had 3 seconds to snap that ball because we substituted late so the Defense could hold off.
Ok, so every time this thread updates, my radio feed drops out. Weird ghost in the machine. Iโll get it worked out. Until then, hell of a catch by Fiske.
Wow Fiske, what a snag!
Throw weren’t bad, either
Honestly, Fisk making that catch and destroying Al-Shaair’s testicles on the same play is an all-time moment for me.
And just to be clear, I dont celebrate other team’s injuries. But when a player has a reputation of flagarant player safety violations, all bets are off.
I thought he hurt his hand lol
Looks like he got cleated on the way down.
The guy is so reckless, the longer he is on the sidelines the better.
Zion with a big block on the first down run.
Great catch by Ladd.
Ball first. Letโs gooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
God damn I am so nervous for this game. I so badly want a good game and a win for Herbert. I feel like he deserves it so much. Time for everybody to put some respect on his name.
Ducks lost so that must mean its the Bolts year!
First radio update: Justin Herbert deputized Ben Herbert to keep media away from his pre-game speech. Could you imagine being some poor dude with a microphone running afoul of Ben Herbert?
Poll : How much would you pay to see that?
1) Take my money
Inactive report includes:
Gus Edwards (bad)
Denzel Perryman (very bad)
Rashawn Slater (very, very, very bad)
Whoops, and too late to delete. That was last weekโs inactives. So sorry. Fake news.
Real inactives:
Stick (3rd qb)
Palmer
Vidal
Patterson
Pipkins
Hurst
Eboigbe
Let’s go Denzel and Gus Bus!!!
Palmer being out worries me a little, especially since QJ has been sick, apparently.
DOOD!
Lol
I know. Iโm an idiot. But Iโm super pumped.
Who’s got it better than us???!!!
Nooooo-body!!!!!
Nooooo body!!!! Let’s go!!
Future us!
Hey. Good to see you.
Ditto to you sir!
Yeeewwww! Party on ๐
I’m excited to see what happens, parttly because this is exactly the kind of game the pre-Harbaugh Chargers would lose in disappointing fashion by coming out flat and unready to play.
I’m pretty confident we won’t see that today. Here’s hoping.
Iโm hoping Harbaugh has made all the necessary sacrifices to the football gods. My biggest reasons for optimism today are Harbaugh, Minter, and Herbert. Youโre right about previous Charger games. This seems like one of those ones that would have Phil throwing 62 times, 34 times in the 4th quarter. Thatโs not a sustainable plan.
I fully agree with this. I also love that Ryan pointed out that our tendency to run heavy packages with Matlock and Fisk plays into the Texans’ defensive weaknesses. Hopefully that works out in our favor!
Super excited. About to head to the store to pick up provisions. Butt will meet couch around noon PST and stay there for the durationโunless, of course, I have to jump out of my seat.
Iโll be watching Tart and Ford early. If they can plug running lanes and get Stroud off schedule, I like the Chargersโ chances.ย
Also, Iโm going to try to sync Chargers radio with the CBS broadcast. DJ and Money give the Charger-centric insights that I find super helpful in-game. If I can manage it, and they say anything of note, Iโll post it here.
I’ll be on Paramount+. Hopefully my feed will neither spoil the joy nor hasten the pain.
Is it odd to say FTR today?
It is never odd to honor Family, Trust, Respect.
Hey hey, thank you Kyle! I just cracked a beer….we actually have SNOW here in southeastern VA so another reason to celebrate. ๐
I predict some heartstopping brain fart moments for the Chargers balanced by ecstatic joy. You know, a Chargers game but with the feeling we’re gonna win. Still pretty foreign but I sure like it.
Bolts prevail and that’s the most I’ll predict. Yes, I’m mildly superstitious.
Let’s do this. โก๏ธโก๏ธโก๏ธ
Let’s go, Buck! I’m so fired up!!!
Btw buddy – I just flat out turned off “spam” control for the time being to try and correct the issues you were having the other week.
If we get big enough to where spamming is a problem, we can turn it back on and troubleshoot more… but for now it seems to have just caused more trouble than good.
