Good morning and afternoon, StormCloud!
We’re gearing up for another prime time game as Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers get ready to square off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The wins and losses have certainly favored the Chiefs since Justin Herbert took over as the franchise quarterback of the Chargers, but under Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz the Chargers have been “turning the worm.” The organization’s operational decisions and strategy have been a strength for the first time since the early A.J. Smith days. Not only did Joe Hortiz deftly maneuver up and down the 2024 Draft Board to secure four players that would become immediate impact starters and a handful of others that have shown promise, Jim Harbaugh’s coaching has also developed players from the 2023 class that were underused the year before.
Herbert’s Chargers have always played the Chiefs close, but have frequently lost in the last couple possessions to their rivals. Earlier this year, the Bolts continued a trend of keeping the game within a possession but not securing their fourth quarter lead after creating what should have been game-altering turnovers in the first half. A weak offensive performance saw the Bolts only score 10 points to the Chiefs 17… a number they will have to build upon to stand a chance tonight.
Ladd McConkey was the leading receiver in that matchup, and the undersized receiver has put on a Herculean effort since, establishing himself as Justin’s only target to reliably gain separation and secure his catches. His high usage and smaller stature has led to serious wear on his body, entering Week 14 with a debilitating AC joint sprain and knee injury that his his availability for the Sunday Night game in question. Currently, it’s reported that he will be a game time decision. Even if he’s available to play, it’s been evident to those watching that he is gutting through serious pain to be out there for his teammates.
Denzel Perryman is likely out another week, showing up as a “Doubtful” on the final injury report, with Ladd, Tony Jefferson, and Junior Colson listed as questionable. Colson came off the IR this week giving hope that he may be ready to step in for Perryman, although Troy Dye has filled in admirably.
How’s everyone feeling about tonight? Be sure to get some chatter going in the comments!

The longest QJ play. I’ll take it!!!
OK, second half blitz, offense!!
Good stand defense!!!!
BRING OUT THE LUNCH PAILS!!!
Ok, if youโre watching the a-22, tell me wtf was Bosa doing on that 3rd-and-1 with 5:45 in the 3rd. He took himself out of that play when he had a clear line to close out Mahomes. Ended in an incomplete, so ok, but damn. Dude left a huge lane for an elusive qb.
Get on the grind, Bolts. Hold them here and own the momentum. Own the moment.
So much for my scoring prediction….lol.
ย
ย
I’ll drink to that, Buck.
OK, the offense remembers how.
Gus Bus!
Gus finds pay dirt!!!
I love the term pay dirt.
Stone Smartt! Alister, start your torch songs.
Let the Bus roll
See?? A stud TE could make a big difference.
WTF was that????
WTF was that nonsense?
Smartt get his!
OK, good play.
Palmer. Huge.
Or not.
OK, big play….
Vidal is on his grind.
WOW….DEFENSIVE holding.
Vidal has promise.
I guess that leg is ok.
It’ll be black and purple tomorrow. The defensive player rammed the point of his elbow into the side of Herbert’s quad
Sweet. Nice decision.
Look, I know the adage that defense wins championships, but that relies on a competent offense. So far, so good defensively, but damn. Get a first down.
โฆand a center, and a WR, โฆ
So second half….fumble return for 6, pick 6, PR TD, and a safety to win 23-21.
Nice. waiting got adjustments
Anyone who thinks Roman should be back is an asshole. The fucking Raiders put up 17 with Aiden OโConnell. This guy is a clown running an offense from 15 years ago.ย
Can’t disagree
Kinda my point. This year may be a learning experience for Harbaugh too. The NFL game changed while he was at MI.
Easy on the Wild Turkey at halftime, Fam.
Spent the past twenty minutes chasing that turkey around the yard.
Hail Mary.
Makes sense. Before tonight, they couldn’t get anyone open EXCEPT Ladd McConkey.
Having two WRs that can’t play their position is a problem.
Maybe good news: Chargers have six WRs who canโt play their position.
Let Minter make all the calls.
Brightside: the offense is well rested.
The offense needs to show up in the 2nd half or this is going to be a blow-out.
I hope they get shut outย
Or maybe Roman’s forced exit?
ย
ย
He won’t
Disagree. Harbaugh won’t go down to save Roman, if that’s what it eventually comes to. But it won’t be this offseason.
That’s within the correct timeline to me. One more disaster of a season is the bare minimum to get Harbaugh to entertain sacking his boy.
So, left tackles never need to be set, on the line, or not moving before the snap. Cool. Good to know.
I’ve seen it before live. Twice. A player gets hurt and the those punk ass Chiefs fans start that racist chant.
That was a BS penalty
Roman upping his game to have the offense suck dick in the first half as well
Interesting strategy.
Ok, Iโm going on record right now: I have no idea how the Chargers are going to win this game, but I canโt wait to see it.
2nd half offensive adjustments?
Iโm not good at cards, does a Monarch beat a Royal Duke?
I don’t see anything on the sideline to make me think Herbert’s seriously hurt. I dunno.
How long can we expect hime to last though, carrying the whole offense by himself with a target on his back?
I guess I shoulda burned sage instead.ย
Nah, just light a match when youโre done.
95% sure Herbert just blew his ACL
Kyle, stop it. I’ll take the 5%.
ย
Sorry guys, not trying to be negative but tore my ACL and Meniscus and as Buck said, the combo of impact on the straight leg with sideways force and the slight buckle was exactly how mine happened. Watch knees get messed up makes me nauseous.ย
ย
Really, really hope I’m wrong and he’s OK (writing this after he went back in).
ย
His movement hasn’t looked bad, maybe he’s OK. But the way he landed had me sweating.
ย
ย
ย
Glad we’re wrong…..I hope.
Understood. Just the thought of it though.
100% hope youโre wrong.
Great. If Herbertโs out I can go to bed at half.ย
We are gonna keep watching Herb get beat up.
Hit Mahomes like that: penalty, fine, suspension. Hit Herbert like that: play on.
Yeah, play on AFTER calling a penalty on us
It’s gonna get called back and fuck Nick Bolton.
Shit
oh pipkins….
4 first downs in the first half. Fucking horrible. No offense with Herbert at QB should have 4 first downs in any half. If Justin is throwing to me, Buck, Alister, Mongo and Nick, they should not have 4 1st downs
Chiefs fans yelling “Refs you suck”. Really? Usually the buy them Xmas presents.
