Merry Christmas to all on Stormcloud if we don’t chat between now and then.
I hope you have a happy holidays and I look forward to continuing to build this place with you all into the new year and beyond.
Take care and enjoy
Merry Christmas to the TDU Crew, Kyle D, and the entire Storm Cloud family. May you and your loved ones have a happy holiday season.
Fair warning, though. You may want to skip the Christmas carols at the end. Alister makes a poor substitute for Mariah Carey. 😂
Greetings from Brisbane. Just awakening from our 12 hour jetlag-busting sleep.
Great pod – listened during part of our flight. A few comments (based on what I remember):
- I thought the adjustments made a halftime by Minter, specifically playing Tart WITH Ford in the middle and playing some dude named Kendall Williamson as S, allowing Derwin to play at the LOS. I took a quick look at Mile High Report – there was a lot of lamenting getting away from the running game. After taking a quick look at the all-22, Minter took away the run and forced Nix to throw the ball downfield
- Speaking of Nix, I am much less concerned about him after watching the full game. He’s athletic, mobile and can get the ball out quickly. Dude cannot throw to the boundaries to save his life. This will be a career-limiting issue unless Payton finds a way to sew a new arm on his QB
- The Chargers interior OL continues to suck ass. What concerns me is that they seem to get out-smarted/schemed more frequently than out played. There were several stunts where Bozeman was looking exclusively to his left and a free rusher runs right by his right. Its fucking frustrating. When Bozeman digs into someone, he’s generally effective. He just has no vision or vision. I know this is an un-popular opinion, but I would love to see what Jaimes could do. My opinion, based on what I saw in 2023, is that there would be far fewer mental/scheme issues with the trade-off of more physical defeats. I think that may be a trade-off this staff should consider.
Regarding playoff opponents:
- Obviously, the Texans are the plump grape everyone wants to squeeze. Outside of that, I hate the matchups with the more physical teams, including the Steelers, who I know are playing like shit, but they kicked the Chargers ass physically. I’m not in a hurry to see them.
- I think the Chargers match up better against the Bills. Buffalo is a great team, but I think I would rather face them than the Ravens.
- I do like the Chargers chances against the Chiefs (provided the refs call a straight game).
We will be in Melbourne tomorrow (Saturday). Hope to catch up with you guys in person!
Looks like Dobbins will play today. 👍🏼
