Appreciate the extra content. Listened during a morning round of early-fall golf. I agree with your pessimism on the outcome this week. What I am going to look for is improvement. Is the effort there? Are the mistakes being corrected? I also think the defense is better than it’s being credited. After re-watching the condensed game, I can’t believe the mental mistakes on offense. Fucking terrible concentration.

This is an interesting article on the Chargers offensive issues: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-2026-how-to-fix-chargers-offense/

To summerize:

  • Receivers, outside of Ladd, can’t catch.
  • IOL, FB and TEs can’t block
  • Herbert is not trusting WRs
  • Roster is missing an intermediate-WR target (like Keenan) – that option is a “staple” of the McDaniel offense
  • Majority of the FA signings are injured (5 of 8 are currently out, with 3 on IR)

This is great. Its helpful to understand the nuances of the game. Leading the receiver, throwing to spots, obviously not trusting plays; great insights. It’s pretty clear Herbert is not comfortable. I also think the OL is surprisingly decent. There are glaring fuck-ups (like Pipkins losing immediately on the 4th & goal and MANY dropped passes), but knowing how a play is supposed to develop and watching players not execute and Justin not trusting it tells me that coaching is, by far, the issue with this team (at least on offense). Going into the season, if you asked me what could go wrong, coaching would have been on the bottom of the list.

I’ve read/heard pundits wondering if Harbaugh is suffering from a medical condition – actually heard someone wonder aloud if he was suffering from dementia. No idea. I will say that there’s a lot of coaching talent on offense. I know people were making fun of the hire, but there are actually 2 former HCs on the offensive staff: McDaniel & Gase. Shane Day is talented. Sanjay Lal is talented. There’s a lot of knowledge and talent on that staff. It’s pretty clear they’re not on the same page. Maybe Jim needs to step up and lead in the room? All I know is that if they look like shit again, there will be tremendous amounts of screams for Jim’s head on a spike, which I think is very short-sited.

Completely different topic. Talking about Slater’s recovery, I spoke a few times about stem cell therapy and how I believe they were using it to both accelerate recover and improve outcomes. Just saw this today:

In an effort not to miss extended time, Kia Trump says she is receiving stem cell injections from Dr. Jeffrey Weigers, a pain management specialist.

Stem cell therapy is amazing at addressing tendon tears. I was told my “tennis elbow” was my tendon pulling off the bone. Nothing to be done but stretching and exercise. Stem cells fixed the issue. My elbow is better than it’s ever been. I’m hoping that Slater’s knee is the same.
