Potential Day 3 Target:
Ja’Kobi Lane- USC 6-4, 200
Lane projects as a prototypical X receiver in the NFL. He displays good fluidity and body control on contested catch situations and is aggressive when the ball is in the air. He has an impressive catch radius and excels at high pointing the ball so he will be a weapon in the red zone, but he shows a good ability to use tempo and releases to stack opponents to get vertical. The ability to track the ball on fades and go routes is real. He doesn’t possess elite speed or quickness to be an instant separator to be able to stack opponents regularly. His down field touches will need to be schemed up so that he finds isolation on the boundary where he can compete with contested catches. Lane’s skill set can be best used as a volume possession receiver, that has the ability to sneak behind the defense for the occasional shot play and be a featured Red Zone target.
