2026 NFL DRAFT

PROSPECT PROFILE

MANSOOR DELANE

CB, LSU 6-0, 188

Strengths

  • Exceptional hip fluidity
  • Scheme versatile as he is equally good in zone or man coverage
  • Ultra-competitive at the catch point
  • Elite route recognition and agility to mirror receivers throughout the route
  • Is a willing and sure tackler in run defense
  • Outstanding click and close ability in zone

Weaknesses

  • Smaller frame could limit his ability against bigger, more physical receivers
  • Does not have the play strength or foot speed to regularly play in press man coverage. He prefers a soft press or off man coverage where he can let his athleticism and instinct dominate
  • Can get boxed out by bigger receivers in contested catch situations

Mansoor Delane’s game is rooted in instinct, recognition and ability. The hip fluidity and click and close ability are unmatched in this class. He is at his best in a soft man where he can read and react to mirror the receiver and nullify him. He does a good job of waiting through the initial release to identify the route concept and react, often jumping the passing lane before the WR can break on the ball. While this was effective in college, he could use more discipline in this aspect of his game. More distinguished pros will use this tactic against him with savvy route running and double moves. Adding some more functional strength would be good to be able to battle bigger WR in the NFL and help him take on bigger blockers and runners.

While there are some slight areas to work on, he should be the top CB on every team’s board because of the instinct and athleticism he possesses, and he should be the first CB drafted. I fully expect him to be taken anywhere from pick 8-15 in Rd1. He would be an excellent addition to any defense, but unless they trade way up into the first round, there is no chance he is on the board at pick 1.22 for the Los Angeles Chargers.
