As I've stated before, I like the 2024 draft overall but was disappointed & am concerned that center wasn't addressed. I'm not convinced that Bozeman is the guy, even short term. Interior pressure can wreck a QB's game quickly. Bozeman doesn't move well & is very susceptible to rip & counter moves because he both gets too upright & lunges. I'm not feeling very confident about this position, neither the presumptive starter or depth.

This is a great article Buck, thank you for sharing! I definitely share your concerns. The only upside I have regarding Bozeman is Roman should know exactly what he is, and get the most out of him. It should be an upgrade from the dismal play of Clapp... but that's a pebble of a hurdle to get over.

I'm a broken record, but it's why Connor Williams would round off a perfect offseason for me. He'd secure the "center of the future" (pending physicals) that we'd hope to get out of a rookie, with a more projectable outcome given his impressive body of work at center and guard, while playing for two different teams.

I'm genuinely curious about what McFadden can do... but not in a "let's give him the backup spot and say we're done" way. I'd rather see him as the 8th offensive lineman, 3rd depth piece that could fill in where needed, at least until it's clear where he's a fit for this roster.

Another interesting wrinkle is there really isn't anyone coming out in 2025's free agency that inspires hope, unless someone has a breakout year. The only name on here that's intriguing is Creed Humphrey, who'd be great, but I've heard rumblings that the Chiefs are likely to make him a G and keep him around.

I’m a little concerned about the entire offensive line interior. Bozeman, Zion, Sayler. I don’t see a strong unit at all and the Chargers play in a division with Chris Jones & Christian Wilkins. I understand that one offseason is not enough to fix this roster that Telesco left. I like the idea of Connor Williams. It will take another offseason to fix it, but I’m ok with that.

Let's hope that between Salyer, McFadden, and Jaimes's development, someone steps up to become a decent center. Looks like Pipkins may be given a chance to fill the RG position.

@kathmandusteve if Pipkins wins the starting RG position, I'd be tempted to do what John Genarro only said he would do.

@buck-melanoma Every signing that doesn't have center flex is giving me anxiety 🤣
