I am proposing that Hortiz work out the following deal with the Jets as they have 2 #2’s and no #3 pick. Their 2 #1 picks could become 3 if we trade them the #22 and we would have the 3 #2 picks with only 11 spots between each of those 3 picks.
Using the current and modernized trade value chart over at drafttek.com.
Proposed trade with NY Jets:
We send them our 1st, 3rd and 4th rd. draft picks and get back:
Their 2 2nd rounders, a 5th round comp pick and a 7th rounder.
By Drafttek.com value chart, that is a 325 point for 325 or 326 point trade depending on which 7th rd is included of their 2 available. I happen to think that the 5th year option on #1s is worth more than a single point on the value chart but not worth quibbling over either.
We would have 3 choices in target rich 2nd round and 6 selections overall!
Once Vega is gone, I want this trade and already have my preferred list for each of these 3 #2 selections.
Takers??

I would not be down with this trade. We would be getting only one more additional pick giving us 7 picks instead of 5, and only the second rounders would be top 100 picks. This trade doesn’t make sense. The goal should be trading down to get a few more top 100 or early day 3 picks.
What makes more sense, but still not great, is giving them #22 for 33, 104, 140 and their 3rd next year. The chart I used has us giving up 253 points but getting back 259. Close enough to make it work. #22 for both their 2nds doesn’t work on the chart.
If we aren’t getting any extra top 100 picks we can’t be giving away #22 .
i know you mean 6 picks instead of written 7. Both of the acquired round 2 selections #33 and #44 are top 100. Your math is off. So let me restate it mathematically so you will see ot ADDS picks and DOES NOT REDUCE our top 100 number of selections either.
We give up #22 , 86, 123
We get #33 , 44, 179, #22 8 /242
So we get more picks after the top 100 but remain the same in the number of top 100 picks because we would be keeping #55 as it is not in the trade.
But Instead of 2 top 55 selections, we would have THREE 3!! TOP 55 choices!
So we will have made 3 selections in the first 55 and not just 2!!
Do you understand the reason for doing the trade better now? I hope so. More top picks and more picks overall.
#22 has less value this year because the prime #1 choice players will not be there at #22 . Thanks for listening.
I get you now. I didn’t factor in the additional 2nd round pick. I am not sure if the Jets are going to be the most willing trade partner. Their roster is so bad they need as many at bats in the top rounds as possible. They are building. A team like Houston who thinks they are very close to a Championship might be more willing to get the 1st Rd talent now to get them over the hump and giving away some later round slections.
Any way we slice it, we need more than 5 picks (and preferably at least one more top 100 pick) to get this roster where it needs to be.
