Ryan’s Notes
Positives
- Frazier plays with tenacity in everything he does, on run blocks he flies off the snap with quick building steps that gather power to fire off into the defender in front of him, this technical ability transforms into power that he dishes out via heavy hands.
- The violence is not limited to his hands either as he pulls with intent and surprising athleticism given his size. His numbers backup these observations as he’s got a 79th percentile 10 yard split and 90th percentile explosive movement skills.
- One detail I like is that he tried to get to full extension to put defensive lineman at a disadvantage with their vision being limited by hands being on their throat.
- Back to the run game and one thing that keeps flashing is lateral clearouts, he’s able to get so much push and cover a decent amount of ground on his reach blocks which means he can really punish on power concepts.
- He has upper body strength to match his lower body power, this can be seen when he’s driving open guys on the goal line.
- He has a wide vision to pick up stunts with active feet and flexible hips to adjust to games.
- It was pretty shocking to me that he’s almost 6′ 6″ as he plays with a low pad level and a decent knee bend, he is rarely ever seen firing downwards into blocks as he instead gets low to drive upwards.
Negatives
- Whilst I’m a big fan of his gap scheme work he doesn’t have the elite quickness to cross lineman on zone looks.
- Miles’ pass anchor may not be solid as you can get him onto his heels but he manages to stay square with his big frame able to stiffen to avoid being twisted into giving up pressures.
Ryan’s Summary
I wasn’t even going to watch Frazier as he was so far down the list but I have no idea why because he’s one of the best and well rounded Guards in this class. He has power, finesse and enough athleticism to be used in multiple ways. He plays with a violence you love to see in a big man but he has smart details that means he can win in multiple ways. He is going to make a gap scheme OC a very happy man.
