Ryan’s Notes

Positives

  • I think Tre’s best qualities are shown when he has to work against off-man as he can really open up with long strides and surprising burst to threaten the cushion to give himself a two way go in terms of pushing past them or breaking back to the ball having got them to transition early.
  • He has decent route running skills with some details but he could add a lot more to set his breaks up, there was one route where he cooked the corner into biting inside before flipping his hips in an instant to open back up to the sideline, this is hard to do at 210 lbs.
  • What he does do well is fall forward with the ball in his hands, it’s why Ole Miss fed him quick hitches and screens as he can give you an extra three yards as no one seems to be able to stand him up.
  • His skip step move opens corners up nicely before he breaks down to work back to the ball.

Negatives

  • For a big guy he doesn’t possess much strength; he doesn’t break tackles and his blocking is only sufficient, not an asset.
  • His feel for timing is off on blocking, he slows down out of his fake route too early and leaves too much distance to his man.
  • Tre has a decent catch technique when outside of his frame but he doens’t pair this well up with his leap so his radius is reduced.
  • His route running is a bit slow especially on routes that break inside, I’d like to see some more urgency. Whilst Harris has power and speed he’s not explosive enough to rely on this as a sole means of getting open at the next levels as it is too limiting for teams to buy into. He isn’t dominant with the ball in the air, he can make nice grabs over his head but he should be attacking the ball long before that so he’s relying on reacting better than the corner which doesn’t always pay off.

Ryan’s Summary

Harris will make a nice home for himself a boundary X that can stretch teams out and limit the type of corners you want to play in press on the backside. His blend of size, powerful strides and surprising acceleration will threaten off-man coverage too but without many details to his route running this is a limited role. I see him as a second or third receiving option with a pretty low ceiling.
