Congrats Buck, that's awesome! Any idea what's next for you, after your motorcycle road trip?

I'm always interested in the prospects that either increase their stock in bowl games or propel themselves into the conversation with noticeable performances. The article I'm starting off with discusses a topic that's rather dear to me....small school prospects. I love the "underdog" label that most of these guys are tagged with.

On a personal note/disclaimer....I don't know that I'm going to have a lot of time to devote to dissecting any prospect's game. I've sold my farm (which is also my home) and have 2 houses to pack and move by closing in early April. A bit daunting but I'm excited for the change this brings to my life. I'll be wandering around the country on my motorcycle June through probably mid-September. Maybe I'll meet some of you along the way. 🙂

Here's the article. I'm particularly interested in Perry as a center prospect.

Wow Buck, that is certainly some exciting news. Maybe you can ride to LA to give us a die hard fans perspective at training camp or drive to Green Bay for the draft? Hope everything goes smooth with the move.

Thanks guys. I am pretty darn excited, just a bit overwhelmed packing. So much to sort through.

More hype on IOL Perry....projects as a CENTER....YES!!!....and already works with Duke Manyweather. I'm gonna be watching this kid, hope the Chargers are too.

@buck-melanoma I wouldn't get to excited. He is a DIII player. I would not expect him to be the answer at C. At best he could be a late round developmental pick that could be the 3rd string C or a swing IOL. He's really not that big either. Seems like one of those feel good plucky player stories that comes out this kind of year. Look at what the Eagles have done recently. They take high quality players from big schools. I would rather follow that lead.

@evolz3737 but did you know he played basketball? lol

I'm not expecting him to set the world on fire but I am going to keep an eye on him. I think the Chargers should too. With the cupboard this bare at center, what can it hurt?

@buck-melanoma Not sure if those Center projections are clear based on the film reps I've seen of him at the position. It's a known weak-class at Center and that the Sr Bowl has been inviting guys with the knowledge they need to take reps at Center because of having so few of them.

I saw him listed around 6'3" 317#, didn't see the arm length but he's shown good reps on tape as a pass-blocker in the clips I've seen.

@duck07 yeah, I realize he's DIII but the clips I've seen he looked pretty stout too, and 317 is good weight. I don't think Linsley weighed any more than that. Bozeman is a bit taller but no heavier.

He's a project, yes, but where's the value at center in this draft class....or free agency? I'm not seeing it.

I just started watching film of Jayden Higgins on Iowa State. Wow. Dude is underrated. A strong combine could really vault his stock. He will definitely be getting a profile write up.

@evolz3737 HUGE catch radius! Could be our MWill replacement. Definitely not a burner but moves well, good hands, makes contested catches.

@buck-melanoma I saw some impressive clips of him from the Senior Bowl yesterday. Looks like he has a good speed rush, but his bull rush can use some work, especially finishing it by driving his lower half.

@evolz3737 I'm sure, like many college players, his strength can benefit from an NFL training program. I'm thinking in terms of who is likely available at 22.

For now and FWIW, I'm still on board with one of the 2 TE's at 1.22. I don't think it's too rich for what it would bring to Herbert and this offense.

@buck-melanoma I would not hesitate to select either of them, but I think there is a good chance they are both gone by #22, unless we trade up. The lack of top end QB talent really pushes guys up the board further than normal. I still think Edge is the most pressing need, unless the top 2 TE are available.

@evolz3737 yeah, I agree they may well be gone. With DT being a fairly deep class, edge or cb moves up for me.

@buck-melanoma Agreed. Barring the top 2 TE being gone, I would go Edge or CB. Even if Fulton comes back I think he is more of a CB2. Pushing everyone down the depth chart by adding a true CB1 makes the whole unit look so much better. If he doesn't come back then we might be looking at FA for one spot and still adding another draft pick. Either way some new blood is needed in that unit.

@evolz3737 completely agree re: CB. We have some nice depth via last year's draft and, as you said, Fulton is a serviceable CB2 but a true CB1 would be mighty nice. Not that he was that nor will I be upset, but I doubt we see Zont back.

@buck-melanoma Yeah, that ship has sailed IMO. I saw his baggy day interview. He said he was dealing with some stinger related injury in his shoulders/back. He said all the right things about wanting to be back and he didn't play because he was trying to get as healthy as possible to be able to play in '25, but the whole situation just felt awkward. I'm not a Dr, but I've never heard of stingers turning into a year long injury. Maybe it was something more serious that he was covering up since he wants to sign a decent contract to play again somewhere? The whole situation just seemed like a falling out between him and the staff, and they both took the high road and went the injury route. After all, his dad was a long time pro. He is probably helping him navigate through the situation so as not to damage a future contract somewhere else. Not airing the grievances, if there are any, in public, is a professional way of handling it. Let's face it, he was not a good fit anyway for Minter's defense, but he always played hard and was as available as possible. Hope he gets healthy and is able to sign a good contract to play somewhere next season.

@buck-melanoma Did you know that he's brothers with Bo Nix? LOL

I think Tez is probably this years Ladd and if he does end up catching passes from Bo again that won't be an easy thing for us. There isn't a Greg Roman offense where Tez and Ladd fit but they could in other systems.

The 2nd blurb about Az. Thomas the FSU CB is more germane for our Draft Board though as having a deep, talented CB room on the cheap for 4-5 years would essentially be the same thing as "rookie QB" when roster building by getting two 5th rounders and a 1st to take the bulk of the snaps.
