Rashawn Slater padded up and practicing with the “ones”. Also sat some, so still being careful but great news!

Junior Colson working off to the side and recovering from his recent appendectomy. Good news.

Donald Parham at practice as well. Good news.

Yes indeed.  Definitely happy to see Slater out there yesterday.  Maybe the phrase “working through something” is code for a minor bruise.  Who knows?  Lol

Junior Colson activated off of the NFI list. That was quick!

@spanos-must-go I'd be surprised if he's full contact yet but yeah....welcome back!!

@buck-melanoma agree completely. I’m guessing he has to work out and gain strength, and contact would be a whole different level.

Still keeping my fingers crossed on injury luck until camp breaks. I am seeing some of the season ending injury news from other camps and I cringe. Just get to game one with all the starters intact and I will be pleased.

@evolz3737 it's looking like they're exercising an abundance of caution and getting Ben Herbert very involved in the treatment, rehab, and preventative measures. I like this approach.

@buck-melanoma yes, I even heard Denzel Perryman in his presser yesterday say that they’re being very cautious in their approach to prevent injuries.  I think the only significant injury that has happened so far is Salyer.  And I use the term “significant” loosely.  Knock on wood.

@evolz3737 I’m curious to know if Herbert, Derwin, Slater etc play a few series in the preseason games.

@lfg_boltz Any memory of how Harbaugh handled the preseason games in SF? I’ve always liked the starters getting a series or two before the season starts.

@dtsmith-fiatbux I’m not sure how he handled it in SF.  And since then I know the league in general handles their starters differently in the preseason.

@lfg_boltz FWIW, Harbaugh in his presser yday said that some starters would play in the preseason, and others wouldn't. It would be treated 'case by case'. Sounds fair enough!

@lfg_boltz I would think Harbaugh might want a cameo appearance by Herbert and the first team offense in the second preseason game. Maybe a series or two, but my instinct could be totally off on that. These days teams seem to favor the joint practices more as they can control the environment better while still getting some live reps in against an opponent.

The team just announced Herbert has plantar fascia in his foot.  The doctor said he needs to be in a boot for the next two weeks but he’s expected to be ready for week 1.  Hmmm…

@lfg_boltz damn, that sounds like something that could linger. Not the news I was hoping to see. We need a clean Herbie all year.

@unclejammsarmynclejammsarmy yeah, this is a tricky injury.  It could definitely linger if it’s not treated correctly from the beginning.  I remember Antonio Gates had a plantar fascia issue years ago.  He tried to played through it but it got worse over the course of the season.  Team doctors really need to play this smart.

@lfg_boltz Hard to believe how this team has terrible injury luck and always to the star players.

@spanos-must-go yep.  To me the injury isn’t as concerning as the valuable reps he’s gonna miss with his new WRs.  From what I’ve read the injury is manageable.  But the lack of reps is a massive blow.

@lfg_boltz

Totally agreed. Herbert isn't playing RB or WR; he'll be fine. It's getting the reps he needs in a new offense with his new pass catchers, and for them to get the timing down with him. Not only that, the offense is in layer-install phases now. It would be hard to figure out what works best without your starting QB. A real bum deal for the offense.

@tui1hit At least with the plans for a stronger running game, maybe we can really lean into that to start the season?

@lfg_boltz Everyone has a plantar fascia in each foot. 😊 The problem is that Herbert apparently has plantar fasciitis.

I have read that recovery from plantar fasciitis can take 6-8 weeks. Rushing it increases the possibility of a plantar fascia tear. If an estimate of two weeks has been provided, it sounds like it is either very minor or the estimate is extremely optimistic.

Herbert's injuries are really becoming a hindering factor on the team and his career. I hope he can overcome them.

Suddenly, it seems like a very real possibility that Stick could be starting games in September.

@tau837 do we know whether it’s plantar fasciitis or a partial tear of the plantar fascia?  I’ve read that it hasn’t been made public yet on what specifically it is.  Both diagnoses have different timelines of recovery.

@lfg_boltz I’m not trying to answer for Tau, just replying here. Part of accepting Harbaugh is accepting he never will be transparent about injuries. That’s just the way it is. It may be just a slight tweak, no big deal, or may be a big deal. I saw the practice session, including Herbert’s runs, and didn’t see anything that hurt him. Hoping for the best, but I would not rely on any accurate injury reporting from Harbaugh’s staff. Love the guy, but that’s just the way he plays it

@tau837 I would agree about the injuries stacking up with Herbert. This one being a non-contact injury and possibly the worst one.

Reading about this damn injury and it can be very troublesome.  Often times months to heal.  It is in his right foot which I can see him driving and twisting that foot every time he throws.  Lots of rest, ice, stretching and hopefully there is no tear in the injured area.  If Justin tries to come back to soon he can reinjure the area.  This is where the backup QB has to be able to get the team a 2-2 record if he fills in for four games.  I just don't have that confidence in Easton Stick.

We do know that JH10 will want to get out there week one. How can he not want to? That's the last thing I worry about. Some see the sunnier side of Stick and I'm fine with that. My opinion mirrors yours. Can Stick not blow a decent lead? I venture to say that he can do that. That said, take my temperature if Stick has to start games. We are in trouble.

I know enough about medicine to get someone else in trouble, so I have no guess as to what's going to happen. After listening to some people who know what they're talking about, we can have some optimism about Herbo being ready for week one. The timing of the injury is unfortunate as if there's there any good time for an injury. With a new system and chemistry to build, at best it will take longer for the offense to hit its stride.

With the ongoing Herbert situation, this also happened.  Something to keep an eye on.  👇🏻

@alisterlloyd Touché. But, Parham is always broken, to be fair.

Knowing Herbert, he'd probably want to practice with the boot.  He'll need to be held back.  I also recently had a bit of plantar fasciitis in my heel area.  Hopefully his is like mine, was caught early, and will heal quickly.

Joey Bosa left the 11v11 portion of practice today with trainers looking at his hand/wrist. Did not return. Can’t make this shit up.
