Chargers fans, we’ve made it! Week One is finally upon us, and we get our first real look at what’s to come in the new Jim Harbaugh era.
Despite subpar backup quarterback play, fans were treated to an exciting and refreshing training camp experience. The bottom of the roster was continuously churned through as Joe Hortiz and the front office continued to invite athletes to compete for a roster spot. The Bolts snagged a waiver claim in Hassan Haskins, traded for a significant depth upgrades at defensive back and quarterback, and parted ways with Telesco holdovers that never quite picked up the pace of the NFL.
The Los Angeles Chargers are not entering this season with the all-star cast of skill players of years past. This isn’t a team that pundits – and even some fans – expect to make a major splash this year. But this team has significantly progressed at the margins. The depth has been expertly cultivated by an expert front office and coaching staff. Many post-hype players have been brought in on prove-it deals that are eager to reaffirm their talent and value in the league. But most importantly, the team’s culture has been completely turned around in a matter of months.
Today, we get to see what sort of immediate returns fans can expect for the investment the Spanos family made into this elite staff. The Chargers are set to play against the Las Vegas Raiders in SoFi Stadium, where rookie Joe Alt will be tasked with minimizing the disruption Maxx Crosby causes this new-look offense.

Here we go StormCloud! WHO’S GOT IT BETTER THAN US?!

Hallelujah!!
Dobbins!!!!
Let’s hope they can finish this drive strong. Looks like Herbert has a little bit more time this drive
Can we get in the end zone here and let the defense cook?
Ya know, a smashmouth run game requires a line that can dominate.
Just sayin’….
Wow. We are getting all the breaks today. A TD drive would really out this game away.
That’s how you make Minshew look like the second stringer he is!!!!
Have we blitzed once today?
Need a negative play here.
Feels like the defense is running out of gas. The feeling I have when I watch the Chargers sadly hasn’t changed from last year 🙁
Raiders pass rush is rattling Herbert. He looks mediocre today.
Yup, and we knew Crosby would be there. We’re losing this game in the trenches.
This offense is putrid. Imagine Herbert with a run and pass game?
Why didn’t we draft a center??
Jezus
Fuck. Me.
Ok Herbert. Rise and shine and get on your grind.
It’s good to see Bosa so energized.
Easter Island Bosa is having a fucking game!
Bosa is having himself a game. Sure would love to see him healthy all year
Gotta do something with this turnover damnit!!!
Taylor finally gets in and gives them an extra 15 yards. This team is just as disciplined as last year.
Pff that’s a weak flag
Ok. One stop and then get into the godforsaken end zone. It’s ok to score TDs.
Darn it. Should have gotten the TD there
Herbert isn’t going to make it to game 2 if somebody doesn’t block Crosby.
Thank goodness for Dicker.
Can we run a screen or draw to stop this all out blitz? They are sending it EVERY time.
Yeah, use their aggressiveness against them
OK Dobbins!
Delayed reaction, eating wings.
Finally broke one!!!
Is it just me or does this offense not seem to be hitting guys on the move in the passing game. Everything is run to a spot, turn, catch.
Great play by QJ!
Indeed it was. If you squinted a little it looked like KA.
Henley is a dawg, which would explain why Staley put him in the dawg house. See that dude run.
OK, good stop.
Let’s go offense!!!
Very good stop – Minshew had nowhere to go with it. I like that.
Bosa and Henley were like, “where you gonna go?”
OK. Back from halftime cigarette break. New beer. Let’s run these asshats over in the next thirty minutes.
It’s happening. Hang on to your… whatever it is you hang on to.
I don’t expect miracles….but I’m shocked that a Harbaugh “disciplined" team has more penalties than the Raiders.
Yikes, guys. Have the game on in the background over here, but have only been able to catch glimpses. Is our offense looking that bad?
Is it at IOL thing, or is the whole offensive line struggling? Interesting seeing the run game be such a weakness.
Bozeman isn’t moving anyone in the run game.
Zero for 7 on third down. That’s ominous. It’s one of the things that sank us last year.
OK, let’s see how they adjust.
I’d get McConkey more involved and give Darius a chance to spread that D out with his speed. Right now LV is stacking the box against the run.
Damn, 26 seconds left and 3 time outs and they try nothing. Weird decision
Romo is losing his voice over Raider enthusiasm.
Hard to believe I’m thankful for the Cowboys commentary to be turned up instead. lol
Glad they paid Dicker.
Sigh…..
Oh Palmer 🙁
Disgusting
There’s a gift!!!
Now let’s unwrap the gift!
Backwards pass right?
Minshew Magic!
Thanks gardner
That’s the leaky D I’m referring to, EV. Minshew shouldn’t be completing these passes.
At this rate we should draft a punter in Rd 1. He might be the most used position in this offense.
Maybe halftime adjustments will make a difference.
/s
Can they bring Keenan back at halftime?
This defense looks pretty legit
I was talking about the Raiders defense 🙂
