Hi Stormcloud Friends,
I’m happy to share that my wife (Kurstyn) and I welcomed our first-child, Imogen Grace Lloyd, into the world at 6.15am yday morning after a gruelling 46.5 hour labour. The little thing didn’t want to be interrupted from her beauty sleep!
Mum is recovering well and Immy is happy to be the newest member of the Chargers family!

We got a decent 5 hour uninterrupted stint overnight for my wife to recover from the surgery. So that should help this next part. Midwives are my new favourite people on the planet.

Congratulations to you and your wife, Alister!! What a fantastic news. Having a daughter is incredibly special for a dad. I have two girls and two boys. Girls are hip-attached to dads; you'll very soon find out. She is a lucky little one.
@tui1hit Thanks Tui. I've just gone on a journey with her for two hours up and down the hospital corridors so my wife can sleep a little and recover. So that special bond is already developing! I'm the lucky one 🙂 Cheers mate
Congratulations Alister! Two days of labour, must have been really tough. We were fortunate with only 7 hours. Great work to both of you. Glad to hear everyone is okay and healthy! I hope her first Chargers game is a better experience than my son had the day he was born (Jaguars playoff game) 😆
@bolt_dk Thank you! Yes it was certainly not the game plan we would've drawn up, but it was the one we were given, and my wife executed it inspirationally. I am in awe of her. Ok, that's enough with the strained metaphors 😆
I'm hopeful that it won't get worse than that Jags loss for at least the next handful of years, so the odds should be in Imogen's favour!
I'm also hopeful that our next child (should we be fortunate enough to have one) will be a 7 hour labour 😊
Wonderful news Alister! Sounds like a grueling start.
There will be moments that when you'll feel exhausted and exasperated. But those are the moments you'll forget.
All those tiny moments of (emotional) happiness, gratefulness and just sheer plain fun you will be getting in the coming years are the ones that will stick by you. Having a kid an seeing it grow up has to be one of the most incredible and rewarding experience I can think off. My main tip: make sure there is enough time to experience it all with the 3 of you together.

OMG, 46+ hours?! Kurstyn is a real warrior - and you must've been a little pooped as well. So glad she came out alright! Don't believe in C-section?
@kathmandusteve Thanks Steve! It was an experience we won’t forget anytime soon that’s for sure. My wife had a preference to avoid C-section, if possible, but not because she held any strong opinion or belief, but merely hoped to avoid the 3-4 week recovery that comes with having major abdominal surgery.
However, in the end, she had to accept that our baby has my large head and it just wasn’t going to happen any other way.
A warrior-like performance that Jim Harbaugh would be proud of I’m certain. I’ve never been more proud of anything in my life than my wife through those two days. Simply extraordinary.
