Ryan’s Notes

Positives

  • Donovan is technically sound, which allows him to be effective despite being undersized.
  • He wins with impressive agility and decent if not highly polished technical ability.
  • His huge wingspan helps mitigate some of the concerns related to his lack of length.
  • He has a high floor as a dependable and sound football player.
  • Donovan is a 96th percentile athlete in terms of movement skills, showcasing elite agility.
  • He stood out and was in control at the Senior Bowl, which showcased his pass rush moves.

Negatives

  • Ezeiruaku is undersized for a true edge player, which raises concerns at the next level.
  • Despite his wingspan, he can struggle when he fails to keep blockers off his chest and becomes stuck on blocks.
  • His ceiling may not be very high due to the lack of explosive traits in his game.
  • He possesses below-average strength, which could lead to him losing reps at the point of attack.
  • It takes him too long to break simple grips as he lacks the power to chop or rip with consistency.

Ryan’s Summary

The Boston college man is an undersized edge who is technically sound and can win with his impressive short area agility and technical ability. He overcomes some of the length concerns because of his huge wingspan but the concerns still show up when he is not able to keep blockers off of his chest and he gets stuck on blocks both at the top of pass sets and when trying to win his gap against the run. His floor is pretty high as someone who can give you a sound football player but I don’t think his ceiling is high enough to warrant an early pick. Even though he’s a high caliber athlete in terms of movement skills, he lacks any kind explosion to his game and I feel like his below average strength will cost him on a lot of snaps. He looked good at the senior bowl so I get the appeal to a degree however against NFL quality lineman I think he’s going to be a little underwhelming.
